As summer winds down, and we look ahead to school, activities, work, appointments, etc...., it means alot to me to have these last few weekends to just spend time as a family; doing nothing but enjoy good, fun times together. This weekend was a perfect example of what I have been envisioning.
Friday night was the big High School Musical 2 premiere. We laid out our blanket and had a picnic dinner in front of the tv.
Now granted, the sequel was not as good as the original, but we all still had a blast singing and dancing along to the movie.(For the record, Mark was asleep on the couch half way through!)
Saturday brought a windy day, sunny and cool. We figured it was too chilly for the beach, so we headed to the Bronx Zoo. Mark and I both have been there when we were kids, but have never been there together, so it was a nice thing to share as a family, with each other and OUR children!
We got to see all of the animals everyone was hoping to see!(Ryan wanted elephants, Kelsey wanted monkeys, and Mackenzie wanted zebras) We even had a stray peacock follow us (I think it escaped from behind a fence, that sucker should not have been loose!)
Kelsey wanted to know why it was following us. I think, because it knew we were planning on ordering a pizza for dinner, and planning to watch High School Musical 2 AGAIN when we got home! :)
Today we woke up to cloudy skies, so Mark took the kids to a really cool playground, and I caught up on laundry while they were out. We also discovered the dishwasher was no longer working. As I sent Mark off to buy a new one, a brillant idea crossed my mind -
Daddy came home with a new machine and a REALLY BIG BOX! I knew with the rainy day forecast ahead for the next couple of days, the best thing would be to build a "club house!"
Here's how we've been spending this evening!
Daddy's working on building an extension.....lord help us, more pictures to follow!
Hope everyone else had as lovely a weekend as we did. :)
