Today was a big day. This morning Ryan's beautiful face lit up Times Square!
It's so incredible to be there, surrounded by others who are also there for the same reason, because they love someone with Down Syndrome. Seeing so many amazing faces flash on the screen larger than life is wonderful. I'm glad we were able to snap some photos of friends children whose pictures were selected, but who couldn't be there. It was so great to see so many familiar faces up on that giant screen!
Here are the kiddos anxiously awaiting the NDSS video to start on the Jumbotron (Mackenzie was not too pleased to be in the stroller!):
Then our friends Tara, Emma Sage, and Otto arrived to watch it with us - Ryan was so happy to see his fiance again ~ He and Emma got engaged in Boston!
Here's a better shot from Tara's camera of the actual size of the screen: Gigantic, I tell ya! :)
Instead of fighting the traffic and since it was raining, we opted not to go to Central Park for the Buddy Walk. We instead decided to go out to lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. It was alot of fun. Ryan and Emma had a great time coloring together (look at how she's smiling at him!) Yep, they are in love! :)
Despite the weather, it was really a lovely day!
In other news, Friday night, Mark and I went to see the Mets again at Shea. Knowing it was my last time there was a little bittersweet, but then something amazing happened. As we were in the Diamond Club enjoying a cocktail before the game, who comes walking past but DARRYL STRAWBERRY! What are the odds? An actual Mets player from my 1986 dream team! It was surreal! He was very cool when I asked if we could take a picture together. We chatted for a minute and then I mentioned a mutual friend, (Shout Out Nance!) and he sang her praises. How cool is that!
It's been a very good weekend indeed! :)
